Important Update on Third Party Reporting
Over the past two weeks many of you may have received a letter from the townships of Bloomfield and Lyndhurst regarding the submission of inspection reports through a third party service, the Compliance Engine. The letter states that all fire inspection providers are required to register with the company operating the system, Brycer, LLC, by November 1, 2019 for Bloomfield and November 15, 2019 for Lyndhurst.
Members of NJAFED, NJAFAA, NJAFSA, FCACA and NJELSA have met to discuss this matter. In consultation with legal counsel, we have preliminarily determined that all fire protection companies licensed in the State of New Jersey are exempt from this registration requirement. Please be advised that we have been in contact with the state and with town officials regarding certain concerns we have about the implementation of this program. These town officials have offered to meet with our representatives to discuss these concerns and a possible resolution.
In the meantime, we are asking all members to refrain from registering with Brycer’s Compliance Engine until further notice. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee that your failure to register will be without consequence. If you receive any negative response or feedback upon your submission of inspection reports the way you have submitted them in the past, please contact your respective board. We will make every effort to help you address those inquiries immediately.
