Meet the NJELSA´s Member of the Month

Each month the NJELSA recognizes a special outstanding member of our association. Here are the criteria for becoming an NJELSA Member of the Month:

  • Must be a member in good standing
  • May be either a regular or associate member
  • Cannot be a member of the board of directors
  • Is a person that gives back to their company, industry and community

    December 2021 Member of the Month: Rob Rudolph

    Member of the Month

    With 30+ years in the industry, Rob Rudolph currently holds the position of Southeast Business Development Manager for Kingfisher Co Inc., which helps to advance life safety at DoD, Commercial and Industrial facilities by designing/installing radio alarm and event monitoring solutions. In the past, Rob has worked for equipment/system manufacturers and system integrators designing and selling mass notification and enterprise-level electronic security systems globally.

    For more than 20 years, Rob has been involved with NJELSA, holding positions of Southern Regional VP, Board of Directors, and Symposium Chairman. While living in New Jersey, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 10 years and a member of the team that led the American Cancer Society Monmouth County Chapter fundraising for two consecutive years.   

    In 2018, Rob relocated to Florida, but has continued his leadership position as NJELSA Symposium Chair. 


    November 2021 Member of the Month: Anthony Mucci

    Member of the Month

    Anthony Mucci is currently the Director of Product Management & Engineering for Johnson Controls Building Solutions. He has spent more than 30 years in the security industry focused on solution and service product development.

    Anthony’s career has spanned research and development, embedded systems circuits, software/firmware design and development, systems engineering, and much more. He is an active participant with UL, SIA, and TMA Standards development, as well as ESA and SIAC committees and councils. 

    October 2021 Member of the Month: Rob Savacool

    Member of the Month

    Rob Savacool is the Northeast Division Lead for TEKsystems, providing skilled technicians to integrators and installation companies in need. Rob is passionately focused on helping telecommunications customers in the wireless, wireline and MSO space accomplish complex initiatives driven by 5G, optimization and transformation. He also manages a sales team that is tasked with understanding our customer’s challenges and effectively crafting unique and custom solutions to help accomplish their goals. 

    Rob has also been a big supporter of the Electronic Security Industry, representing the Northeast for 7 years. For more than 4 years, he has been passionate about supporting and volunteering for the NJELSA and Mission 500. If you or your company need technicians, don’t hesitate to call Rob!

    September 2021 Member of the Month: Joe Bonafede

    Member of the Month

    Joe Bonafede is the President of Technocality Inc., a security solutions and installation company based in Hamilton, NJ, which he formed after his retirement from the New York City Police Department in 2002. Technocality provides surveillance, security, and fire products as well as business development and IT services to the DOD, government agencies, LE agencies (Federal, State, and Local). Technocality also holds a multi-year contract for a large pharmacy chain servicing 2,100 stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.

    Joe is active in the industry and holds many professional memberships such as the Mid Atlantic Technical Investigators Association, the Mid Atlantic Technical Investigators Association, National Technical Investigators Association Member, and The Community Associations Institute (CAI). Throughout the pandemic, Joe encouraged his employees to partake in training courses from home while remaining on the payroll. Joe has continually sponsored local community events, HOA Board Member training, Police and Security Industry golf outings as well as the Trenton New Jersey Thunder MLB Draft League.

    August 2021 Member of the Month: Joe Petsch

    Member of the Month

    Joe Petsch started in the industry with a job at Wells Fargo Alarm Services and founded Franklin Alarm Company, Inc. (FACI) in 1985, specializing in Engineered Fire Alarm Systems. The company has grown steadily, employing 25 dedicated professionals, including three of Joe and Karen’s children who, it is hoped, will one day follow in their father’s footsteps. In 1992, Franklin Alarm became a Strategic Partner with Edwards Systems Technology.

    In 1968, Joe became a junior firefighter with the Star Cross Volunteer Fire Company. He was Fire Chief for 25 years, and recently celebrated his 53rd anniversary. He was president of the Gloucester County Fire’s Chiefs Association from 1998-2004, and a member of the Radio Advisory Board and Incident Command Committees and is currently an Executive Board Trustee.

    In 1990, Joe was elected as a fire commissioner for the Township of Franklin Fire District #5 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.

    Joe’s hands-on experience as a firefighter was an immense advantage for his business, since he knew first-hand how most alarm systems could respond to a wide variety of situations, and which would be most appropriate for each customer. In addition, Joe gained additional managerial experience as Chair of the Franklin Township Planning Board and member of the Economic Development Commission. From 2008-2013 he was a member of the Franklin Township Committee and served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. 

    Joe believes that professional associations are another important part of helping others succeed. He has been an active member of the NJESLA, a past board member and past Vice President South. One of his proudest moments was his 2002 NJESLA (NJBFAA) Frank Smith Memorial Award for Public Safety. Joe is also a long-time member of AFAA – Automatic Fire Alarm Association and NFPA – National Fire Protection Association.

    Joe considers himself “tremendously thankful” for all who have been there for him, especially the employees who are, as he proudly says, the very definition of a family business.

    July 2021 Member of the Month: Bob Shoremount

    Member of the Month

    Robert (Bob) Shoremount started in the industry working part time an alarm company that provided electronic security systems for Upsala College where he attended. He liked it so much that made it a full-time career. In 1980, Bob became active with NJBFAA and the NBFAA Training School and was one of the instructors to teach the first NBFAA Level I classes in NJ.

    Bob started his own company, Securite Industries in 1985, providing residential commercial and industrial security. During that time, Bob served on the NJBFAA Board of Directors and led several committees including Training, Legislative, Finance, Bylaws, Ethics, and False Alarm, held officer positions and President in 1991-1992. He also served on the NBFAA Board of Directors for nine years serving on several committees and was presented with the Sara E Jackson Award for his work as a committee chair. In 2001, Bob went to work for ADT in the NYC office and shortly after his arrival, helped industry veteran, Ken Gould, in the aftermath of 9/11. Bob had charge of as many as 28 sales reps and managed high profile commercial accounts until he took a position for ADT corporate in the Operation Excellence Department. This afforded Bob the opportunity to earn a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from Tyco while traveling to branch offices and call centers around the country leading improvement projects that created greater customer satisfaction and increased profitability.

    In 2009, Bob formed Strandberg Consulting to help integrators and central stations of various sizes improve operations, launch new initiatives, and better satisfy customer demand. Bob’s new company is dedicated to providing training in many areas to help industry professionals and new entrants to the trade. Bob holds NJ Burglar Alarm, Fire Alarm, and Locksmith Licenses, and Electrical Contractor Licenses in NJ and CT.

    In addition to being a long-time supporter of the NJELSA, Bob has supported and helped found a number of charitable organizations and industry groups in addition to serving as president of his local church. Bob and his wife Debbie just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and have two grown children and two grandchildren.

    June 2021 Member of the Month: Jeffrey Zwirn

    Jeffrey D. Zwirn is a nationally recognized and court qualified forensic alarm and security expert with over 40 years of specialized education, skill, knowledge, training, experience, and nationally recognized peer-reviewed credentials in the alarm and security industry.

    Jeffrey is a 24-year Active Designated Expert Instructor to the New York City Police Department, Certified Protection Professional, Board Certified In Security Management, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, NICET Level IV Senior Engineering Technician in Fire Protection Engineering Technology/ Fire Alarm Systems, and Master Alarm Technician. Jeffrey is Licensed and/or Certified in Five States as an alarm contractor and was awarded three United States Patents for Electronic Security and Life Safety Systems Inventions.

    Jeffrey has been involved in the security survey, needs analysis system recommendations, sales, design, installation, programming, testing, inspection, service, maintenance, and monitoring of more than five (5,000) thousand security and life safety systems for residential, commercial, industrial and governmental applications. Jeffrey has also provided training to the professional and technical community of the alarm and security industry across the country and is the author of the nationally acclaimed and peer-reviewed Alarm Science Manual.

    May 2021 Member of the Month: Lew Walters

    In 1968 while going to college at night, Lew Walters realized that he needed a job to help him through school. Lew found an ad in the NY Times for a purchasing agent at Wells Fargo and thought it might be a good fit. The interview went well and he was hired into the “alarm division” – no driving – no counting money – and of course, no gun!

    Lew will be celebrating his 53rd year in the alarm industry and tells us that he has a few years left in him! During that time, Lew has held many positions and helped companies get products to market. He has worked as a Regional Sales Manager, a Product Manager, and National Sales Manager. 

    When the Monitoring Association needed to develop a uniform training program for Central Station Dispatchers, Lew worked with other industry professionals to develop the program, which is still widely used today. In addition to the Monitoring Association, Lew has been very involved with various other alarm associations, including the NJELSA. Lew served as Vice President and Director and currently plays a major role with the Youth Scholarship Program.

    Lew has three fantastic children and two wonderful grandchildren, and his hobbies include clay bird shooting. Lew tells us that he tried to cook the clay birds, but never found a good recipe. Did we tell you that Lew is known for his wonderful sense of humor?!

    April 2021 Member of the Month: Mark Siemon

    Member of the Month

    From a young age, Mark Siemon was always passionate about all things computers and electronics. In the decades since, he has turned this passion into a career in the information technology space, helping organizations of all kinds leverage computer networking and the internet to achieve their goals. Mark has numerous certifications on a variety of different technologies as well as practices such as information security. He has also earned an MBA in Information Technology Management.

    Mark entered into the physical security space as it converged with IP networking infrastructure. Shortly after, he founded Verishield Technologies with his brother Paul. Together, they run an operation that focuses on providing the highest quality solutions to their clients while doing everything they can to support their suppliers, partners, employees, the environment, and the industry as a whole.

    Mark regularly volunteers his time and resources to help those in need. Mark often volunteers at St. John’s Soup Kitchen and serves on the board of directors of Tri-Faith House.

    March 2021 Member of the Month: Gary Ascolese

    Member of the Month

    Gary Ascolese is celebrating 43 years in the security industry, opening his first business, G.A. Dynamics Security Systems, in 1978. The company initially focused on installing residential security systems; however, over the course of
    several years, G.A. Dynamics Security Systems transitioned into commercial fire, access control, and video surveillance systems.

    In 2015, Gary partnered with Len DeRasmo of Protection Plus Security to form Dynamic Protection Systems (DPS). Gary and Len’s partnership and strong commitment to teamwork has created a growing business and new opportunities.

    DPS is focused on their community, hiring local Technical Institute graduates, supporting area Little Leagues, donating to the Toy Drive for Children at their local hospital, and assisting the security industry charity, Mission 500.


    February 2021 Member of the Month: Joseph Cordi

    Member of the Month

    Joseph Cordi has been Ken Gould’s “right-hand man” for almost two years. During this time, Joe has been learning about the security and alarm trade while meeting many wonderful people – people who make this industry feel like family and truly care about others in need.

    Joe volunteers for Mission 500 and was the lead for inventory management at the recent golf outing at Bella Vista Country Club in Marlboro, NJ. He also assists the NJELSA, most recently with their office relocation. 

    Joe is currently earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and looks forward to continuing his education at Rutgers University. 

    January 2021 Member of the Month: Will Edel

    Member of the Month

    Will Edel has worked with Johnson Controls for 22 years, starting in 1999 as a technician installing residential security systems. Will went onto hold various roles in the organization from front line installation and service management to area leadership roles. He is currently the Area Security Leader with responsibilities over Commercial Security Sales, Installation, and Service for all of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

    Will Edel has spent 22 years at Johnson Controls, and is currently the Area Security Leader with responsibilities over Commercial Security Sales, Installation, and Service for all of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

    Will has been active with the NJESLA, and supports his team both managers, technicians, and sales reps to become licensed for BA and FA in New Jersey. Will has been instrumental in supporting the organization efforts around industry concerns.

    Will enjoys spending any downtime with his wife Dina and daughter Laney, as well as boating and working on home improvement projects.


    December 2020 Member of the Month: Marc Buzin

    Member of the Month

    Marc Buzin has always been passionate about the safety and security of others. That’s why he wanted to create a business that would provide unique services, focusing on providing excellent customer service. In 1985, his dream came true, and he opened Diversified Systems located in Hackettstown, NJ. He is a proud member of NJELSA for over 25 years and has devoted his time as a Board Member to the organization. He is also a volunteer for Mission 500.

    November 2020 Member of the Month: Joe Gallagher

    Member of the Month

    Since 1987, Joe Gallagher has served as Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing at B-Safe Security after spending four years at Siemens AG as an Electrical Sales Engineer in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

    Joe graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1982. He has been selling residential and commercial security and fire protection systems his whole career in the alarm industry. He is currently active member of many local and national security organizations including the Electronic Security Association, the American Society of Industrial Security, NFPA, the Delaware Alarm Association and the New Jersey Life Safety Association. He is the immediate past President of the Delaware Alarm Association and their current Treasurer/Secretary. He has served on numerous state and local committees relating to alarm dispatch issues and was appointed to the Delaware legislative task force regarding verified alarm response of first responders serving alongside both DE law enforcement and state legislators. He is licensed and certified in security and fire alarm signaling systems in NJ, PA, DE, NY, and MD. He is also NICET Level III certified in fire alarm engineering technologies for advanced fire alarm design.

    He is a current Board member of the Delaware Valley Business Referral Group in West Chester PA.

    October 2020 Member of the Month: Mark Tigrath

    Mark has worked in the security systems industry since the late 1970s, working for his family business until 2000, when they sold the business to ADT upon his father’s retirement. Since then, Mark has worked in sales at ADT, sales management at AFA, and now with Beacon Protection since 2014. Mark has been an incredible asset to the NJELSA, and we look forward to his continued insights.

    September 2020 Member of the Month: Ed Keshecki

    Member of the Month

    After a career with the NYPD, and following ownership of Staten Island-based alarm company, Gotham Alarm, for 20 years, Ed joined Statewide Fire Corp. in 2002 where he serves as Vice President for the organization. Ed is NICET Fire Alarm Level IV certified, and an authority figure on all aspects of the fire alarm industry.

    In 2009, he chaired the NY Fire Alarm Association Central Station committee, served as President of the NY Fire Alarm Association from 2010-2011, and was honored in 2012 by the FDNY Bureau of Fire Prevention for “Commitment to Life Safety.” He is currently an active member of the NYFAA Board of Directors – Liaison to Metro Area AHJ’s, including the FDNY and the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office. Other affiliations include the NJ Automatic Fire Alarm Association, SFPE Metro Society of Fire Protection Engineers NYC, NJ Electronic Security Association, NY Electronic Security Association and the Metropolitan Burglar Fire Alarm Association.

    Married for 30 years, and the proud father of two daughters, Ed recently became a proud grandfather of a baby girl and enjoys boating and golfing in his spare time.

    August 2020 Member of the Month: Scott Stellfox

    Member of the Month

    For over 35 years, Scott Stellfox has been a dedicated member of the life safety industry. As a child, the hit TV show, “Emergency,” piqued his interest in the profession, and he never looked back! Today, he attributes his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help people as the main driver for his success.

    Since its humble beginnings in Verona, New Jersey, Scott has grown SMS Security Systems into a reputable and impressive operation, celebrating its 35th anniversary. Scott served as an EMT on the Verona Rescue Squad for over 15 years, acting as Squad Captain for three of those years. He has also served on the NJELSA Board as Vice President of the North Jersey Chapter. And, he has taught at the Essex County Police Academy and served as President of the Morris County Chapter of the business networking group, BNI. Scott is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of the Caldwells and volunteers as a firefighter and current President of the North Caldwell Fire Department.

    Scott doesn’t know the meaning of the word, “complacency” as he continues to grow SMS Security Systems into a thriving security alarm company. He has successfully executed five business acquisitions over the past 30 years to expand its now broad capabilities. And, with an eye on the future and the planet, Scott has purchased several environmentally-friendly Ford Transit Connect trucks over the past year.

    Scott has been a devoted member of the NJELSA, always willing to get involved. On most days, he is actively participating in his business’ day-to-day operations, but still finds time to help the industry, his community, and his friends.

    July 2020 Member of the Month: John P. McClellan

    Member of the Month

    John P. McClellan, co-founder of Blue Knight Security Systems, LLC, is a 1970 graduate of Essex Catholic High School, and a 1974 graduate of Bloomfield College with a BA in Biology. After college, John worked as a lab tech for 3 ½ years prior to becoming a police officer.

    In 1978, John and a fellow officer established Blue Knight Security Systems, Both were hired on the same day by the Verona NJ Police Department, and both had worked as alarm installers prior. As soon as they completed their probationary officer status, they went into business. Inspired by the book, The Blue Knight by Joseph Wambaugh (a former LAPD officer), John found the perfect name for his alarm installation company.

    John is married to his wife, Martha, and has three daughters and two granddaughters. John enjoys several hobbies, including fishing and trap shooting, and likes vacationing at the Jersey Shore. He is also very involved with volunteering at his church.

    John is an active member of the NJELSA, who is always willing to roll up his sleeves and pitch in. He organizes the Association clay shoots, which funds the scholarship account, and volunteers to take photos at the Annual Symposium. John never looks for recognition; he genuinely wants to help. We can always count on John. As such, we are proud to honor John as Member of the Month for July 2020.

    June 2020 Member of the Month: Erin Barsanti

    Member of the Month

    Erin Barsanti is an Area Sales Manager for Brivo, based out of Conshohocken, PA. Originally from the Washington D.C. area, Erin has spent the last 13 years studying and working in the physical security world. Erin has experience in both the integration and the manufacturing space.

    Erin began her career at Johnson Controls after being selected for an Early Career and Talent Development program, where she worked in both the federal and commercial divisions. She later joined Brivo as a Strategic Account Executive for North America Training, one of Brivo’s largest clients. She was subsequently promoted to manage the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware region.

    In addition to being part of multiple committees for Mission 500, she is involved with the Women in Security Forum and SIA RISE. Erin graduated on the Dean’s List from Penn State with a dual-degree in Advertising & Public Relations and Labor Studies & Employment Relations.

    Erin Barsanti was selected as Member of the Month for June 2020 because she is a team player at Brivo and great supporter of the NJELSA. Erin has hosted several training events, and as a new member on several NJELSA committees, she is already making a difference. And, lastly, Erin has displayed an amazing dedication of time and effort to Mission 500.

    May 2020 Member of the Month: Shawn Kane

    Member of the Month

    Shawn Kane is General Manager of Tustin Security Solutions, LLC based out of Montgomeryville, PA. The company is literally a start up out of the ground in November of 2019.

    Shawn is a US Navy Veteran and was a Semi Pro Football player for South Jersey Generals for five years. His previous 23 plus years were spent between his own company, Vector Security and JCI.

    He is a NICET Certified, social media and marketing content provider, and Head Coach for his 6-yearold son’s football and baseball team. He resides in Doylestown, PA.

    His charitable contributions include St. Jude, Mission 500, Covid-19 relief, Michael’s Miracle, Buckingham Food Drives, Vietnam Veterans of America and Central Bucks County Food Drive.

    April 2020 Member of the Month: Marybeth Nolan

    Meet Marybeth Nolan, our first NJELSA Member of the Month! She is from Trinity Security Services in Hainsport, NJ and always willing to help.

    Marybeth was extremely helpful at the Annual Symposium as well as at all our Southern Regional Meetings. Plus, Marybeth made a very generous personal donation toMission 500. Congratulations Marybeth!
