The ABCs of BDA

Summary: Public safety systems are not one size fits all – each system requires customization, premium products, sound engineering, and proper installation and maintenance. Public safety in-building systems must take into account the radio spectrum environment, structural parameters, and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). RF Solutions is an industry thought leader in the public safety field. We’ve designed and implemented over 100 public safety systems, and we’ve faced a multitude of challenges, requiring creative and out of the box solutions.

During this two-hour course, we will offer a comprehensive dive into the heart of public safety distributed antenna systems: The Bi-Directional Amplifier, also known as a BDA. We’ll cover the following topics:

  • The Evolution of In-Building Public Safety Systems
  • An overview of the NFPA 1221 & the IFC510 codes
  • What are public safety systems and how do they work?
  • Which buildings require them
  • In-building public safety terminology
  • The Bi-Directional Amplifier
  • Simplex Functionality
  • Design Considerations and Challenges
  • Real life experiences using in-building public safety systems
  • Q&A

This is a virtual training event.
