Course Title: Electronic Access Control

The Electronic Access Control (EAC) course will provide the latest information students need to successfully design and install an electronic access control system. The primary focus of this course is to equip learners with knowledge on the most common devices and methods to connect them. Students will learn how to assess the customer’s needs, what to look for when performing a site survey, and then how to translate the data into an effective system. This option offers access control training online.

Course Title: Maglocks – The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

This course will address some of the folklore, misconceptions and history of Maglocks.  It will display some of the reasons why agencies presented concerns about Maglocks and why the reasons are no longer valid if ever were true. Additionally this course will site why there was confusion in codes and compliance as well as how to take action to dispel those myths.

Course Title: Professional Fire Alarm Design

This course provides specific training to develop an installation plan based on field conditions and project requirements. Plans should be developed by persons experienced in the proper design, application, installation, and testing of commercial fire alarm systems. Therefore, the primary focus of this course is to provide a more advanced level of knowledge gleaned from national codes regarding proper detector selection, required coverage for specific building occupancies, as well as documentation and plan submittal requirements. The course will provide information needed to prepare commercial fire alarm system plans and submittal documents, and includes a “hands-on” portion where students will use their new knowledge to design a fire alarm system based on criteria provided.

This course will review the scope and key points of the Licensing Act. It will cover the proposed duties and functions of the Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Committee, as well as the requirements and qualifications for licensure and ineligibility exemptions and applicants licensed in other states.

Course Title: Troubleshooting, Service, & Maintenance

This course focuses on the service, repair, testing, inspection and preventative maintenance aspects of today’s electronic security systems. Troubleshooting, Service and Maintenance offers dealers/integrators an additional revenue stream and the potential for significant profits through these additional services. This course is ideal for individuals seeking to expand their knowledge on the proper procedures to service, repair and maintain intrusion, fire, video surveillance and access control systems and covers the fundamentals of troubleshooting as well as specific troubleshooting procedures for today’s systems. The course includes reference material from NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and NFPA 730/731 covering the proper test and inspection procedures of these systems.

Types of Training Courses

ONLINE “CORE” COURSES – are online versions of many of the ESA/NTS’s most popular courses. They offer the student the flexibility of taking the courses at times convenient to their schedule.

ONLINE CEU COURSES – are online courses designed to aid students in obtaining continuing education credits for the renewal of many industry certifications and licenses.  These courses are shorter in duration (typically only an hour or so), and also ideal for internal company use for training employees on new and expanding technologies, or just updating your staffs knowledge on various topics. 

Many of these courses are approved for NJ CEUs!

Required Training Classes

All NJELSA classes have been approved by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs – Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Committee for credits of continuing education.
